The Australian Heritage Festival is the country's largest community-driven heritage event. The NSW arm of the festival will open to the public on Easter Monday 10 April and continue until 14 May 2023.
An annual celebration of natural, historic and Indigenous heritage places, people, stories and activities across NSW - spanning metropolitan and regional areas - the theme of the 2023 Australian Heritage Festival is Shared Stories.
In NSW, the Australian Heritage Festival 2023 program features more than 150 FREE and ticketed events and activities including exhibitions, walks, special tours of historical sites, performances, workshops, food fairs, ceremonies, demonstrations and other attractions to engage all ages.
For more than 40 years, the National Trust has connected the nation through the Australian Heritage Festival.
Established in 1980, the festival - which is organised, promoted, facilitated and led by National Trust - not only connects communities across metropolitan and regional areas, it further provides patronage, support and deserved-recognition to many including: small and large community and conservation groups, city and regional-based retail centres, universities, schools, clubs, councils, religious groups, historical societies, libraries, museums, galleries, theatres, artists, businesses and other heritage-related organisations.
People are encouraged to join the celebrations to learn more about the state's heritage, share their own heritage stories and reflect on those that will shape our future for generations to come.
The 2023 Australian Heritage Festival program is now live for public viewing at australianheritagefestival.org.au. Share experiences on social using #AHF2023 and #SharedStories
The Australian Heritage Festival is supported by the NSW Government through Heritage NSW.
