How Sydney's ban on pets on public transport promotes our love affair with cars.
Almost half of Sydney's households have one or more dogs. Data on the transport habits of Sydney's dog owners shows that people travel with their dogs - a lot. Dogs accompany their owners to the park, the pub and family gatherings. However, unlike in many European cities, Sydney's dogs are banned from our public transport. So, these trips are usually done by car.
The prohibition of pets on public transport is an outdated transport policy that perpetuates car dependence. This talk explores how other cities have introduced pets into public transport and asks why Australia still lags behind.
Plus, this venue is dog-friendly, so feel free to bring along your four-legged friends!

About the venue - Wayward Brewery
Located in the bones of a former wine cellar, Wayward Brewery's expansive, underground taproom boasts 24 taps and a lot of character. Their bartenders are local legends that love to have a chat and treat their regulars like part of the Wayward family.
Pull up a bar stool in the main bar, or hole up in one of the old wine vats, which have been converted into cosy drinking dens with speakeasy vibes.
