During our enforced Pandemic hiatus, Frank Grauso started to move away from a traditional studio practice towards digital medium. Drawing, colour, subject and the composition process remained, although now it was by using the ipad as his studio.
Early primitive works and rock painting remains a constant influence in his work. Frank's compositions could be classified as a primitive reduction of the everyday human condition. An attempt to capture the intrinsic essence of the moment.
'Counting Days' is the first significant public installation in this new digital direction.
The shift to working in digital was a gradual and slow process of experimentation until the realization of the benefit that came from being able to work uninterrupted and much faster as compared to time taken mixing colours or waiting for paint to dry.
