Lucy Chladek was born in 1937 in Budapest, Hungary. She was only seven years old when the Germans invaded and recalls being forced to visit a little haberdashery to buy a yellow star.
She also remembers her family later being crammed into a building with lots of other Jewish families, where she slept on an old couch, covered with lice and bed bugs.
Join us in the Museum for an inspiring conversation between Lucy and the Museum's Head of Learning, Rebecca Kummerfeld. You'll learn about Lucy's experiences before, during and after the war, and what it felt like to experience the Holocaust as a child.
This event is part of our summer survivor talks series, taking place at the Museum on Wednesdays this January. Please note that the survivor speaking at this event may change should unforeseen circumstances arise. We will endeavour to keep you informed if this is the case.
