Connecting and inspiring through sound, song and imagination.
Artist, composer, cultural ambassador and son of Tibetan nomads, Tenzin Choegyal feels a particular connection to the music of the high Himalayan plateau and remains dedicated to preserving the cultural traditions of his ancestors.
Tenzin is a master of the lingbu (bamboo flute) and the dranyen (three-stringed lute) but is best known for his extraordinary vocal ability. Acknowledged as one of the world's finest Tibetan musicians, his soaring vocals and exquisite flute solos have thrilled audiences around the globe.
Tenzin performs original compositions inspired by Tibetan texts and poetry, traditional nomadic songs and playful folk tunes infused with the essence of Tibetan wisdom and with a sound as expansive as the Himalayas.
A keen collaborator, Tenzin has partnered with Laurie Anderson and Philip Glass on major works for stage and film - his groundbreaking album with Laurie, Songs from the Bardo, being nominated for a 2021 Grammy Award.
For Tenzin music is life, no matter where he is. “My music has evolved through my own journey from Tibet to India to Australia and around the world. But wherever I am in the world, my music also connects me to my homeland of Tibet.”
Tenzin's message is uplifting and his obvious joyfulness is infectious.
