Microflix Festival online 2020
City of Sydney Library is proud to host the third annual Microflix Festival- celebrating short films and the stories which inspired them.Whether you're a film buff- a lover of literature or a budding filmmaker- join us online to experience this exciting showcase of contemporary Australian storytelling through film. Enjoy live panel discussions- film screenings- the awards ceremony and a filmmaking workshop over 3 days.You will have an opportunity to read the stories and vote on your favourite- here from October 12. Then join us for the awards night to find out how filmmakers working in COVID-19 restrictions have brought them to life on screen.Events includeAdaptation Symposium: 7.30pm-9pm- Thursday 29 OctoberJoin a live panel of industry experts- authors and filmmakers to explore the nuts and bolts of adapting micro-fiction to micro-films. Panelists include micro-literature expert- Cassandra Atherton- scriptwriting teacher- Craig Batty- filmmaker- Rachel Landers and scriptwriter- Alana Valentine . You'll also get to hear from guest speaker Hajer- from ABC TV's comedy series Halal Gurls on diversity in storytelling and filmmaking and interviews with authors and filmmakers. Awards night: 7.30pm-9pm- Friday 30 OctoberWatch all the finalist films as selected by the festival jury- Fatima Mawas- Romina Accurso and Will Simon- followed by the awards ceremony. You'll also get to cast your vote for People's Choice Award live.Filmmaking workshop: Saturday 31 OctoberSo you've shot some video footage using your phone and now you need to edit it together. Perhaps you're not sure how to go about it the right way- or you aren't sure about which editing software to use?Whether you are putting together your first short film or uploading a vlog to Youtube- this online editing workshop will provide beginner video editors with the basics for taking videos to the next level.In this hands-on workshop- with experienced film editor- Jordan Swioklo you will learn the basics of editing in Adobe Premiere Pro. You can get creative by using different transitions- adding simple effects- titles and soundtracks. You will also learn key information about how to import and set up your project correctly- file types- file size and how to export your final cut.No prior knowledge of editing is needed but basic computer skills will be assumed. Participants are encouraged to come ready with their own footage and any music tracks they wish to use. Royalty-free film footage and soundtracks will also be available for use- if requested prior to the workshop. Participants are also required to have Adobe Premiere Pro installed and working on their computer prior to the workshop. If you do not already own the software- please download a free trial.All events are free however bookings are essential. Please read your booking confirmation carefully for instructions on how to join the event on Zoom. Online preschool music and movement class 2020
Share the joy of music- singing and movement with your toddler in this free and welcoming group.This online class is aimed to engage babies to preschool age children with their parents and caregivers. The facilitator will engage families with music- singing and storytelling using themed words and phrases. This free class is designed to engage and provide a fun and energetic time for the participants.Simply come along and join in the fun. Myofascial release class introduces safe and effective technique that involves applying pressure to your muscles and Myofascial connective tissue to help relieve tension- pain and restore motion.This class is specifically designed using props such as foam rollers and massage balls to find the bodies trigger points and smooth out hard knots- returning the fascia to its normal fluid state.Although floor-based- this class can be painful- as we search for problematic areas to release in the body.Please make sure you have a clear area to move. Fiver 2020 International Film- Dance and New Media Festival
The international platform for the support- exhibition and production of audiovisual dance Fiver promotes choreographic-audiovisual creation by promoting the professionalization of the film dance genre with the organization- since 2012- of an internationally renowned annual festival: FIVER.After the success of FIVER 2019- which celebrated its seventh edition with actions in Logrono and Madrid- its two main venues- this 2020 and for the second consecutive year- the Fiver-Cervantes program is being carried out within the festival- with a Selection of works by Spanish and Latin American creators and curated by Samuel Retortillo- wants to offer a current vision of audiovisual dance through works that have been produced by Fiver or that have been finalists in its international competition.The works of prestigious Spanish film directors of three generations are a perfect selection to show how cinedance has become a language of specific movement- where the creator brings dance to life through the screen. There are five works that can be enjoyed at Fiver-Cervantes 2020: the winner of the special FIVER 2019 award- I Love the Maids for Unreal- by Sofia Castro (Argentina)- the finalist- Babelian Circles- by Ferrand Romeu- and the collaborative works Fiverlabs 2019- Body to Body 2.0- coordinated by Esteban Crucci and Jordi Cortes- Wine or Grape ?- coordinated by Álex Pachon- and Bailaora- by Rubin Stein.This program is expanded with «Confined Bodies»- a series of videos that have been made during confinement- in order to analyze and give value to the creative proposals carried out during this period- by authors of the stature of Elias Aguirre- Richar Mascherin- Asun Noales- Alex Pachon- Jesus Rubio- Antonio Ruz- Guido Sarli and Pablo Venero.This comprehensive program will be presented within the framework of the Baila Espana festival in Bremen- which- in addition to its face-to-face celebration- will have a digital version this year- in which a wide variety of online activities will be offered- which will be accessible to all users of the Instituto Cervantes network of centers.
