Founded by Malcolm and Melanie Rands in 1993, ecostore originated on the Northland coast of New Zealand. As part of a community that established an eco-village in a valley adorned with streams and native forests, the Rands aimed to create a home that was as eco-friendly as their natural surroundings.

The guiding philosophy of ecostore has always been to prioritize people's health by developing hardworking, effective products devoid of harmful or unnecessary chemicals. In 2013, the Rands handed over the reins to the Kraus family. Now under the leadership of Pablo Kraus, the brand aspires to be the world's most trusted and sustainable home and body care company.

Today, ecostore continues to develop, manufacture, and package its range of household cleaners, laundry detergents, body care, skincare, baby care, and oral care products at their Toitū net carbonzero certified factory in Auckland, New Zealand.

Cruelty-Free

Ecostore products proudly display the logo of PETA, the world’s largest animal rights organization. They have signed PETA's statement of assurance, committing not to conduct or commission animal testing on any ingredients, formulations, or finished products, both now and in the future. In China, where some cosmetics are required to be tested on animals, ecostore sells affected body care products online to avoid such testing requirements.

GE/GMO-Free

None of ecostore's plant-based ingredients come from genetically modified crops like corn or soy. Although they oppose GE field trials, they support the ethical laboratory development of GE for medicinal purposes, like insulin production. The enzymes used in their dishwasher powders, dish tablets, and laundry products derive from genetically engineered micro-organisms, a common practice in eco-friendly products due to the insufficient supply of naturally occurring enzymes.
