The Ankali Project provide training for volunteers interested in supporting socially isolated people.
Once training is complete, as a volunteer, you'll be matched with a socially isolated client, living with HIV.
As a volunteer, you'll provide community access, and social and emotional support as a friend. This could include going to cafes, the movies, art galleries, dinners - you name it!
You'll be supported with establishing healthy client boundaries as the relationship progresses.
As a volunteer, you'll attend a fortnightly support group to debrief and receive support from other volunteers.
The Ankali Project Social Work staff is also there to support you, every step of the way.
Since 1985, The Ankali Project has trained more than 2000 volunteers. You'll join volunteers from all walks of life, but have the time and commitment to make a difference in the life of someone else.
If you have any questions about the service model, or the commitment, please make contact.
We're a NSW Health-funded service, as a division of the larger clinical, multi-disciplinary Albion Centre.
