An initiative from Currency Press to mark 50 years as a performing arts publisher, the Australian Playwrights' Festival will be a public event at Paddington RSL to celebrate the contribution of our playwrights to the national conversation.

Featuring Jonathan Biggins, Andrew Bovell, Patricia Cornelius, James Elazzi, Wesley Enoch, Nakkiah Lui, Lachlan Philpott, S. Shakthidharan, Alana Valentine, David Williamson and many more.

The festival will be a mix of panels and one-on-one discussions that showcase our playwrights and the roles they have played in reflecting our society and defining who we are. Sessions include:

  • 'You can't write that! How do we navigate telling other people's stories?'

  • 'Black Theatre Matters: Changing the world from inside the theatre'.

Come and meet the writers behind those great plays you've seen and hear what inspires, enrages and motivates them to write.
