This showcased event has concluded.
In 2018, at the age of 34, Ben Dean discovered he had a rare congenital brain disorder called Partial Agenesis of the Corpus Callosum (PACC). Subsequently, he awoke to his reality as neurodivergent for the first time.
Through his suffering - namely, anxiety and depression - he drew inspiration and hope from the uplifting funk music of the late Nigerian artist, and Godfather of afrobeat, Fela Kuti.
This exhibition draws upon a Kuti song by the same name, and broadly examines the remarkable human capacity to suffer, yet also smile.
