Here is a unique sort of soulful and sassy package of blues and roots: Open it!
Bonnie Kay, a contemporary American singer/songwriter from Philadelphia who landed in Australia via Tokyo. Bonnie uses acoustic, finger-picking, slide-guitar techniques, plus a voice reminiscent of blues icon Bonnie Raitt's, to deliver her own red-hot, sexy sound. Bonnie's voice and guitar speak evocatively to the archetypal medley of emotions springing from the trauma of love relationships between humans: yearning, angst, lust & passion.
Meet the Bonafides are:-
Wayne Rigby on saxophone and flute,
Catherine Golden on double bass,
Calvin Welsh on drums,
Kaiki Suzuki on trombone
Nic Lewis on electric guitar
Bonnie Kay & The Bonafides present elements of jazz, soul and funk with indescribable elements of texture and color, sometimes smooth and jazzy, sometimes gritty and raw. Their influences are Blues, Jazz, Soul, Rockabilly & Alternate Country are putting on a live show at Civic Underground in Sydney CBD on Friday November 13.
Always a pleasure to enjoy, the band have performed around the country at 17 music festivals in the last 4 years including Blues at Bridgetown in Western Australia, The Agnes Water Blues Roots & Rock Festival in North Queensland, The Echuca Winter Blues Festival in Victoria as well as multiple local performances at the Kiama jazz and blues festival, The Sydney Blues and Roots Festival and many more.
It will be a very special show where guests can hear the band through a world class PA at Sydney CBD's best sounding live music venue
