Conflict and violence have plagued much of Uganda since independence in 1962. Today, ten years after hostilities ended, the region appears rejuvenated. The generation who grew up in refugee camps is receiving education, learning trades and returning to farming land.

While many still carry the physical and emotional scars of unconscionable devastation, it is evident that the human spirit is profoundly capable of emerging with resilience after war.

After studying software engineering and telecommunications, Los Angeles-born Brian picked up a friend's camera and a new career direction was born. His work has won awards and been featured in magazines. 

After delivering the first online festival in the world in May, attracting 80,000 visits, Head On Photo Festival returns with a printed festival of quality photography this November.
