Join artist Pamela Leung for a Cantonese language tour of (Re)telling: Stories of Country and Truth at Art Space on The Concourse.

(Re)telling: Stories of Country and Truth, is an exhibition curated by Muruwari woman Dr Virginia Keft. It brings together emerging and established Aboriginal artists from around Australia to present new and existing works that showcase their resilience, strength, and connection to culture.

Pamela Leung is a local Willoughby City-based artist and she will provide insight into the exhibition theme and the various perspectives offered by each artist. Visitors will have the opportunity to ask Pamela questions about the exhibition.

About Pamela Leung

Pamela Leung is a Hong Kong Sydney based artist, with a Master of Fine Art from the National Art School, 2016. She received the Emerging Artist Prize in the 65th Blake Prize 2018. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Australia, and has also exhibited at Taiwan, Stockholm and Hong Kong. Since 2015 she has held solo exhibitions in Sydney, Hong Kong, Paris, London and Sheffield. Her work is held in Casula Powerhouse Art Centre Art Collection and private collections in Australia, Hong Kong, Taiwan and UK.

Pamela is a local Willoughby City-based artist who was part of the group exhibitions HOME GROWN: The Tenacious Realm (2019) at Incinerator Art Space, and Retracing (2020) and Parallel Wanderings (2022) at Art Space on The Concourse. She also exhibited her solo show Shades of Red IV at Incinerator Art Space in 2021.

With her installation, video, sound, sculpture and painting, Pamela explores the routines of everyday life, relationships, connections, displacement and the diaspora. The colour red takes on a significant symbolic status in her work, representing the differing perspectives of Western and Eastern cultures; it is also the colour that runs through all people, no matter the colour of their skin, as a unifying force.

This event is part of the exhibition (Re)telling: Stories of Country and Truth, curated by Dr Virginia Keft and presented by Willoughby City Council as part of the Gai-mariagal Festival.
