In November 2020, growling Melbourne outfit Cash Savage and the Last Drinks released Live At Hamer Hall, a live album recorded in an esteemed venue that on this night was conspicuously audience-free.
Even under those COVID-conditions, the show was raw and electrifying. If that's how this lot plays to no one, Speakers Corner is in for a mad one.
Led by songwriting force of nature Cash Savage, the band has released four outstanding albums, including 2018's Good Citizens on the fiercely independent Mistletone Records. Cash Savage and the Last Drinks make songs full of grit and political fury, cut through by knockabout Australian charm.
Onstage, the band becomes an unstoppable force, with Cash prowling alongside six road-hardened musicians (behold Kat Mear's show-stopping contribution on the violin). The battle cries of 'Rat-a-tat-tat' and 'Fun in the Sun' will sound oh so sweet against the Sydney skyline.
'Self-assured, brawling rock'n'roll…[pairing] tenderness with political fury' - The Guardian
'The band plays in the great Australian tradition of dark, blues-inflected punk… primed for the pub as much as the concert hall' - Sydney Morning Herald
