Celebrate Seollal (Lunar New Year's Day in Korean) together with the Korean Cultural Centre's YouTube Live show!
This New Year's food and drink experience event will be live-streamed on the Lunar New Year Day of 2021 (12 February) introducing how to make tteokguk, one of the most significant Seollal foods in Korea and how to brew the traditional Korean alcoholic beverage.
Joined by TV chef and a leading Korean food expert, Heather Jeong and an author and the former host of ABC-TV's One Plus One Jane Hutcheon, the live show will demonstrate how to make five different types of tteokguk by region and introduce the culture and meaning of eating tteokguk on New Year's Day as well as the sechan (a set of New Year foods) table. Also, the one-and-only Australian specialist in Korean traditional alcohol, Julia Mellor will demonstrate how to make traditional dosoju, a drink served with sechan after an ancestral service on the morning of New Year's Day.
