Written and performed by Vashti Hughes. Directed by Liesel Badorrek. Sound Design by Ross Johnston.
The title of one of Bee Miles' unpublished journals; her articulate, humorous and subversive voice spoke out against social injustice. Bee was transgressive and a bohemian rebel who constantly challenged the accepted orthodoxy. Bee is an inspiration screaming 'No!' against an oppressive world still resonating strongly today.
About the artists
Vashti Hughes, Ross Johnston and Liesel Badorrek have worked creatively independently and together for many years. Liesel and Ross have worked collaboratively over five years with Liesel as director and Ross as sound designer for CDP 's successful children's theatre 'Treehouse' series, 'Trash Alchemy' which played at Casula and Merrigong Theatre. The three of them worked together on Liesel's work 'Monkeyshines' playing at the Sydney Opera House 2008. They believe in the importance of celebrating important individuals that have been a part of the character and fabric of Sydney and believe in creating original and daring work that is of excellent quality. Each share a sense of adventure and delight in creating new work and aim to honour those who have come before and helped pave the way as creative people with a voice in this city.
