In partnership with the University of Sydney's Conservatorium of Music, The Women's Club will showcase 17 emerging musicians performing ten hours of music by Australian female composers across nine concerts.
The Ash Quartet was founded in late 2018 at the Sydney Conservatorium. Since then, the quartet has performed throughout Australia and internationally. As recipients of the George and Margaret Henderson Scholarship in 2019 the quartet travelled to Portugal where they attended the Verao Classico festival in Lisbon and were awarded 1st prize in the chamber music division studying in the classes of Veronika Hagen (Hagen Quartet) and Kyril Zlotkinov (Jerusalem Quartet). In the same year they also performed in Brisbane as finalists in the Queensland International Chamber Music Competition.
As well as curating their own performances in Sydney, the quartet has collaborated with the Icarus Chamber Project and has appeared at the Crossroads Festival and at the Kendall String Festival. The quartet is mentored at the Sydney Conservatorium by Associate Professor Goetz Richter and Julian Smiles (Goldner Quartet) and has also been coached by members of the Emerson, Doric and Goldmund Quartets.
