Join us online for a very special lecture for History Week 2022.
In observance of this year's theme 'hands on history', it is fitting that the Museum invites author Caroline Beecham to speak about her new book Esther's Children. The book uncovers an amazing real-life female hero who's story has remained largely unknown.
This is Caroline Beecham's fourth novel and it is a love story set during World War II inspired by the extraordinary life of heroine Esther Simpson. During her life, Esther helped rescue thousands of academic refugees from death and persecution. In Austria, 1936, Esther 'Tess' Simpson works for a British organisation that rescues academics from the threatening Fascist and anti-Semitic regimes taking hold in Europe. Esther's Children is a compelling story underpinned by Beecham's meticulous research.
Caroline Beecham is a renowned Australian author. She has an MA in creative writing, a passion for travel, and a deep respect for great historical figures whose stories are largely untold.
.'…Beecham's easy-flowing prose and astute structure make the pages fly.'
