Looking at the Overlooked is a show by Kathie Mason, Tina Young and Eve Pitt, who are Sydney-based artists. They have worked together for some years, after meeting at ArtEst, and have developed an understanding of how each other's processes bring a painting to completion.

These processes are varied but in this show the works are drawn together by their choice to focus on that which often gets minimal attention.

For example:

  • Shadows cast by objects take precedence over the objects themselves.

  • The way light falls in a room being more important than the objects in that room.

  • The colour combinations that familiar fruit and vegetables offer the artist as the focus of picture making.
