Looking at the Overlooked is a show by Kathie Mason, Tina Young and Eve Pitt, who are Sydney-based artists. They have worked together for some years, after meeting at ArtEst, and have developed an understanding of how each other's processes bring a painting to completion.
These processes are varied but in this show the works are drawn together by their choice to focus on that which often gets minimal attention.
For example:
Shadows cast by objects take precedence over the objects themselves.
The way light falls in a room being more important than the objects in that room.
The colour combinations that familiar fruit and vegetables offer the artist as the focus of picture making.
Opening Saturday 12 August 2pm to 5pm
