Kitchen Sink is back for a second year of weird, feisty, boundary-pushing, and genre defying performing arts. This year's four shows are from a collection of Sydney's most exciting young artists...
Please check 'nights' when booking tickets as each double-bill is showing on alternating nights. And please come along for both!
Night 1 (25/10, 27/10, 29/10, 01/11, 03/11):
Dazza
Written & performed by Frankie Fearce.
In this close and intimate conversation with Dazza, the bar fly that haunts the smokers' area of your local pub, Frankie Fearce pulls apart toxic masculinity in a way only a regional queer that had to pretend they liked VB until they were 24 can.
Horse Play
Created, written, and directed by Zoe Tomaras. Devised, written, and performed by Linda Chong, Angela Johnston, Natalie Noll, Sophea Op. Devised & written by Georgia Drewe.
Horse Play is a devised drag comedy exploring masculinity, comradeship, and... whatever else comes up when you're a dude squashed inside a wooden horse full of dudes.
Night 2 (26/10, 28/10, 31/10, 02/11, 04/11):
Date and Time
Written & performed by Albert Lin.
Dates carry meaning. They carry memories and anniversaries and little glimpses into our lives.
Albert has written a poem every day since the 15 February 2017. He's kept a diary for almost as long. Come join a conversation about what dates mean to us, and see how the same day has as many faces as there are people.
Share a day that's special to you. Listen to others'. There is a poem for every occasion, and a date.
Origin Story
Written by Eric Jiang, directed by Dominique Purdue, starring Rachel Seeto & Jasper Lee-Lindsay.
Robin and Sam are best friends from different worlds - she's a superhero, he's a schoolteacher. When they move in together, it's all fun and games until it's really not. Robin soon embarks on a journey against time to figure out what went wrong, and save their friendship, to change the story. Everyone is obsessed with the way things begin, the Origin Story of it all, but what if this is the story of how things end?
Everything but the Kitchen Sink Festival 2023 was produced with support from the Inner West Council's Arts Project Grant.
Kitchen Sink producers: Toby Blome, Mabel Li, Emma O'Sullivan, Lungol Wekina.
