Flamenco was declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco on November 16, 2010 and for this reason, every year on November 16, International Flamenco Day is commemorated, an art and something very Spanish that crosses borders to offer the best of itself.
The Instituto Cervantes de Sídney is proud to celebrate the International Day of Flamenco on exactly the day that marks 10 years of the mentioned declaration.
Several experts from the world of flamenco, living in both Australia and Spain, engage in a relaxed conversation in which they will have the opportunity to explain their experience working in the world of flamenco and share their art beyond borders.
The event will be on Zoom and Facebook Live, filmed at the Gabriela Mistral library in Sydney, and is moderated by the executive producer of Project Flamenco in Australia, Ms. Salud García.
Hear music from flamenco guitarist Paco Lara, guitarist Santiago Lara who won the Seville Biennial of Flamenco in 2000, flamenco guitarist Carlito Akam and flamenco dancer Maria del Mar Moreno.
At the end of the event we will offer 15 minutes Q&A for the audience attending the event via zoom.
The event is in Spanish. For those who don't understand Spanish, several days after the conference we will edit a video with English subtitles and publish it on our YouTube channel.
