Kari Cooper is a talented young artist from Waikerie whose main artistic subjects are folklore and fairytales. Here, she presents an exhibition of whimsical illustrations and wonderful children's art which will surely capture the imagination of both children and adults.

Ones trash is a Hope Town treasure! I love to make life more colourful so I travelled Australia painting murals across the country as I went. I can transform food, clothes or even rubbish into art. Rescuing unwanted items destined for the tip, a lot of what I use is recycled, repurposed or found around the home or garden waiting for it's time to shine. I mostly use acrylic paint but have also used food colouring, cake icing and even dirt!
My favourite catchphrase is 'I could paint that for you'. My wish for my art is to create a lightness, to make you feel happiness and to encourage smiles. I believe in 'giving it a go' even if you think you don't have the skills. No matter what anyone else tells you, if it comes from the heart, it can't be bad.
