In this lecture, Nanette Carter and Robyn Oswald-Jacobs introduce Frances Burke from the inception of her business in the 1930s and early recognition by Sydney designers, architects and retailers including Marion Hall Best.
The talk then charts Burke's evolving career in the post-war period with the development of lifestyle magazines, the popularisation of modern design and her emerging position as design advocate for the new sun filled outward facing modern interior.
