A true Sydney tradition on Good Friday - the world-famous choir of men and boys are joined by a fantastic team of international soloists; Susannah Lawergren: Soprano (Australia/UK), Russell Harcourt, Australia), Brad Cooper: Tenor, (Germany /Australia) and Christopher Richardson: Bass (Australia), and are accompanied by the Ancient Academy of St Andrew's on period instruments, directed by Ross Cobb. The Concert is introduced by the Dean of St Andrew's Cathedral, Sandy Grant.
Messiah was written for the choirs of Dublin's St Patrick's and Christchurch Cathedrals to sing together at Easter 1741 conducted by Handel himself.
Come and hear this extraordinary music performed as he would have heard it - sung by a choir of boys and men with professional soloists.
