The Queensland Heritage Register describes the historical importance of Brisbane's City Botanic Gardens as “the most significant, non-Aboriginal cultural landscape in Queensland, having a continuous horticultural history since 1828, without any significant loss of land area or change in use over that time.'
Join us on this special guided walk as we take you on a journey through nearly two hundred years of history, from the convict settlement days to the green inner-city oasis you see here today and learn of the significant contribution the Botanic Gardens have had to the development of Queensland.
Requirements: This walk requires average physical activity, including walking distances up to 500m, possibly some uneven ground but mainly paved paths. Stops are short and mainly for guide explanations. Some short standing periods or sitting if required. Please wear a hat, enclosed walking shoes, and be sure to bring a water bottle and sunscreen.
Meeting point: Meet at the Visitor Information Kiosk (next to the Queensland University of Technology's Main Drive pathway).
Note: Walks may be subject to environmental conditions and guide capacity on the day.
