The HH Eclectica is a wonderfully diverse exhibition featuring painting, drawing and collage that celebrates the work of the 4 Hunters Hill artists.
Jennifer Buffier creates collages that are mainly figurative and are often inspired by the ancient or more recent part. Jennifer'a collages have a surreal quality and are somewhat mystical which entice the viewers to imagine a back story. Jennifer prefers a muted palette with rich overlay of patterns.
Overtime, Annette Dale has developed a unique style in abstract and collage, painting intuitively and embracing mostly a bold palette, often incorporating a variety of mixed media in her paintings.
Dianne Johnstone's favourite subjects include old buildings, the Australian Bush and the elusive water. Graphite, charcoal, ink pen and coloured pencils are her preferred media. Graphite and charcoal produce a dramatic contrast in graded tones. With coloured pencils, Dianne blends and layers shades of colour and experiments with texture produced with different combinations of pencil and paper.
Janet Williams is primarily a watercolorist who also enjoys working with pastel, especially in depicting animal and birds. Interested in capturing a moment in time, and the ephemeral nature of life, she prefers subjects in action and portraits with a narrative. As a quilter she has dabbled in multimedia, combining fabrics and gouache.
