In-demand guitarist Hilary Geddes premieres a new work Upstream, Down River, commissioned by TURA New Music's No Borders program.

Hilary has drawn on her own experiences growing up on the Murrumbidgee River, and field recordings taken from the Nepean River, to create a sonic solo guitar work that reflects on themes of water as a connecting force, and its importance as a precious resource.

Hilary is a guitarist, improviser and composer based in Sydney. She is the 2019 recipient of the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award. Hilary has been working as an in-demand guitarist in the Australian jazz and improvised music scenes, performing alongside jazz luminaries such as Mike Nock and Barney McAll. Most recently she received the ABC Jazz Scholarship.

Following the premiere, Hilary will perform with her quartet.

Hilary Geddes (solo guitar)

+ plus the Hilary Geddes Quartet including Matt Harris (piano), Max Alduca (bass), Alex Inman -Hislop.
