Enter Darlo Sessions. Forget those pub crawls and sticky floors, this is a lush new way to experience the best of Australia's live music scene.
For 3 weekends over Feb-March we're centring FBi's rising stars and triple j darlings on our stage, with shows tailor-made for the Darlo. After a challenging year, these artists spent their time in lockdown creating electric new work. It's time for them to take up space. This is a program of intimate hour-long gigs decked out with 5 star production values.
Our iconic Eternity Playhouse stage will transform into a music-lovers utopia when you're nestled with a beverage, no elbow shoving or spills in sight. Sit back, kick it back, and enjoy them soulful melodies and catchy tracks. You can't get this on Netflix.
Huck Hastings
In late 2019 Sydney-based singer-songwriter Huck Hastings burst back onto the local music scene with a new single (and sound). After a period spent writing, 'Hey Babe?' and its accompanying music video marked the beginning of a new and invigorating direction for this exciting young songwriter. Upon its release 'Hey Babe?' was promptly added to rotation on FBi Radio and earned him a slot as their Independent Artist of the Week .
The beginning of 2020 saw the release of singles 'Soft - An Epilogue' and 'Anthem For The End of The World'. The latter, which tapped into the universal unrest that followed the Australian bushfires and beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, amassed over 100k listens across streaming platforms, was played on Triple J, and was added to rotation on FBi and Edge radio.
After a string of packed-out shows with his band (and with Sydney on the verge of lockdown), Hastings turned his attention inwards, finishing his debut album as well as a collaborative EP, co-written and recorded in his bedroom with Sydney-based guitarist Sachin Burns under the band name Hacky Sack. He followed this up with the release of his fourth and final single of 2020 'It's Alright/It's Cool (Commitment Issues)' , which received high praise from NME, countless online write ups, and an artist spotlight in Frankie Magazine.
He was also featured in FBi's most 100 played artists of 2020 . Once lockdown measures eased, Hastings returned to the stage for a series of stripped-back shows in support of Andy Bull, The Buoys and Jack Colwell as well as multiple Great Southern Nights showcases.
His debut album 'Cheers To Progress' is a profound and witty exploration of codependency, freedom, and the art of letting go. It features singles 'Soft - An Epilogue', 'Anthem For The End of The World' and 'It's Alright/It's Cool (Commitment Issues)'.
