Anti-Slavery Australia opens the world's first Human Mart in the heart of Sydney, to coincide with International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade (March 25). Opening for a limited time only (Tuesday, March 16 through to Thursday, March 25) at 205 Oxford Street, Darlinghurst, Human Mart is a store that drives awareness about modern slavery and human trafficking, which affects approximately 15,000 people in Australia today.
The activation aims to shed light on the scarily straightforward, and transactional process that is human trafficking and slavery, with the showcase of over 70 physical items carrying a name and story of individuals who have been subjected to slavery in their lifetime.
Human Mart is the most confronting supermarket Sydneysiders will step foot in. All funds raised from Human Mart will be donated to Anti-Slavery Australia in support of victims and survivors of slavery.
