Violence against women and girls is one of the most pervasive human rights violations and a global epidemic.Zonta is an international human rights organisation, with a goal to build a better world for women and girls. For International Women's Day 2025, all Zonta clubs are involved in taking action to end violence against women. From 4 - 14 March, the palm trees on Iron Wharf Place (next to the Sofitel) will be covered in yarn bombing and messages that help raise awareness of domestic violence and its many forms.
- The social and economic benefits of higher education for women and girls
- The urgent need for a human-rights-based approach to climate action
- Barriers to employment, including childcare costs and single parenthood
- The growing crisis of homelessness among women over 55
- The gender gap in superannuation and its long-term impact
- The workforce challenges faced by women with disabilities
- Persistent inequalities in wages and career opportunities
- The increasing representation of women in Australian Parliament
- Unique challenges faced by migrant women
- The intersections of discrimination across different identities
- The disproportionate rates of family violence and discrimination against First Nations women
This exhibition also introduces Zonta International, a human rights organisation dedicated to Building a Better World for Women and Girls.
The yarn art has been created by members of Zonta International in NSW and the ACT.
