Iranzamin explores the stories behind rarely seen Persian artefacts from the Powerhouse Collection, from the middle of the 19th century to now, shedding light on the diverse social and cultural history of Persia - today's Iran - and its people.

IRANZAMIN CURATOR TALK: JACQUES CADRY, 17 APRIL 2.30 - 3.30PM

Powerhouse Curator of Iranzamin, Pedram Khosronejad, speaks about Jacques Cadry's contribution to the understanding of Persian carpet's beauty in Australia. This talk will be a joint conversation with members of the Cadry family, followed by a Q&A session.

DE-TERRITORIALISING ISLAMIC ART, 15 MAY 2.30 - 3.30PM 

Dr Mahroo Moosavi will question the habits of thought in the study of Islamic art history by working between different forms of artistic production, and propose an alternate way of discussing art history.

IRANZAMIN CURATOR TALK: FLORENCE BROADHURST, 19 JUNE 2.30 - 3.30PM

Powerhouse Curator of Iranzamin Dr Pedram Khosronejad will speak about the influence of Persian culture on Australian painter and textile designer Florence Broadhurst. Find out more about the Powerhouse Collection of original Broadhurst wallpaper prints.

WAHT SHOULD AUSTRALIA KNOW ABOUT PERSIAN ART? 10 JULY 2.30 - 3.30PM

Dr Sam Bowker will respond to the themes of the Iranzamin exhibition via the work of contemporary Persian artists in the global diaspora, and asks the question 'What should Australians know about Persian art?'

MATERIAL CULTURE OF SUFISM IN EARLY MODERN IRAN, 31 JULY 2.30 - 3.30PM

Drawing on the objects displayed in the Iranzamin exhibition, this talk by Dr Peyvand Firouzeh will explore the role that objects, materials, and calligraphy played in the life of Sufis (ie, Islamic mystics).

IRANZAMIN CURATOR TALK: IMMIGRANTS OF PERSIA, 17 AUGUST, 2.30 - 3.30PM

Powerhouse Curator of Iranzamin, Pedram Khosronejad, will talk about Immigrants of Persia and their contributions to the development of Persian Arts in Australia.
