JP Jones is an international contemporary artist and acclaimed musician. With a career spanning twenty years, Jones's career in music has seen him tour the world with the likes of Chrissie Hynde, Lucinda Williams and Guns N' Roses, whilst his art has been exhibited in London, Paris and Sydney.
Motivated by his quest to marry his two greatest passions - music and art, Jones's affinity for contemporary art evolved from an unwavering curiosity to create a visual language from the invisible patterns of sound. It is from this fascination that Jones's first 'Sound Portraits' collection was born.
An auditory visionary, Jones combines laser kinetics with sound to create powerful patterns, shapes and lines representative of the original acoustic. Jones then applies mass layering techniques, vibrant colours and a variety of textures to produce each painting.
Each portrait evokes a multisensory exploration of the mind, freeing curiosity from encumbrance. The result, a 'visual celebration of sound'.
Jones' latest exhibition _Sound Portraits in G Minor _will be held at Art2Muse Gallery, Woollahra, Sydney 10 - 23 February 2026.
'I capture the sound waves of Vivaldi's Concerto for Two Cellos in G minor. A laser beam reflects off a vibrating mirror, creating visual patterns of the music's soul. But these sound-forms merge with my own inner universe-visions of saints, women, men, wings, and wild thoughts. It's where baroque melody meets the untamed imagination, painted into visual soundscapes that sing to both ear and eye.' JP Jones 2026
