Get ready to laugh, gasp, blush and cry all at the same time with an unforgettable collection of sex-positive, inclusive stories told live on stage.
As part of the Sydney Fringe Festival, the much-anticipated Kink In The Tale: Storytelling for Grownups, will be playing for two nights on 19 and 21 September at the Bordello Room at Kings Cross Hotel.
You'll hear from award-winning authors, Dylin Hardcastle (A Language of Limbs, Below Deck) and Luke Carman (An Elegant Young Man, An Ordinary Ecstasy); actor Duncan Fellows (Deadloch, The Let Down); frontman Dan McIvor; and renowned multidisciplinary artist Donné Restom.
Following a successful eight-month long residency on the NSW Central Coast, nothing is off-limits in the show. The brainchild of host Restom, the self-confessed sexual adventurer explains that a ‘kink' is simply a non-conventional sexual practice or fantasy.
She adds that kink practices prioritise clear communication, opt-in consent, and creativity. “The ‘vanilla' world has so much to learn from kink when it comes to communication and consent,” she says. “Some practices may appear risky to an observer, but done right, a kink play session can be the safest and most exciting place on earth.”
The suburban mum says the time was right to open the conversation around sex, intimacy, and kinky quirks, by bringing together a collection of brilliant minds to share their stories.
“This is adults only storytelling at its best. We talk about everything you think about but may be too afraid to voice out loud. Everything from group sex, the weird way that grief makes you horny, to dildo forests, and how three innocent words on an 80s cassette case changed the way one girl thought about sex forever.”
Restom says the show will appeal to fans of events such as Story Club, Queerstories, Bravewords Live, Erotic Fan Fiction, or anyone looking for something different from a theatre night out.
“It's very thought provoking and will help if theatre goers come along with an open mind,” she explains. “Respect, consent, non-judgment and an open heart will make you the best kind of listener - and a better lover as well.”
