Trained glass artist turned self-taught knifemaker Dan Venables will teach you the basics of knife sharpening and maintaining kitchen knives (or edged tools) using Japanese Waterstones in this interactive Canberra workshop.
During the workshop, you will learn how to resharpen a dull knife, and how to better maintain your knives so you don't have to sharpen them as often.
Please bring to the workshop two steel, non-serrated kitchen knives that you would like to sharpen. We'll provide all the materials you will need to sharpen your knives, including two Waterstones and a strop.
At checkout, you can choose if you wish to borrow tools for the day or to buy and start using your very own knife sharpening toolkit. If you choose the latter option, you will get to take home a toolkit valued at over $100. This is a great option if you wish to continue your newfound knife sharpening skills at home, or it would make an amazing gift.
