Please join the ArtSHINE community as we celebrate the latest exhibition by ArtSHINE artist Kate Tribe.
The works in this exhibition represent the activity of life. This consists of regular movement of our bodies between locations and mentally between what is requiring our attention.
The exhibition has two series representing movement. 'Commuter life' is the paths and tracks we use when we travel, and particularly when commuting, it can become a circular or repetitive rhythm.
'Being pulled and folded' reflects the mental demands for our attention, where there is a constant tug or pull between the different parts that exist for us. All works completed using stranded cotton on Aida cloth.
About Kate Tribe:
Kate has transformed her early passion for cross stitch into creating contemporary abstract art works. The process of following patterns or pre-design was abandoned for a creative improvised approach, where aida cloth and colour palette are selected, then stitching feelings. Themes of - being pulled in different directions, travel, and stars - have emerged, among other works. They're a visual story via abstract shapes using colour range, and creating a space to get lost in.
The exhibition will be opened on Wednesday 1 May at 6pm by Valerie Khoo, CEO of The Australian Writers Centre, podcaster, and prolific artist as a painter and surface designer.
Thank you to Tim and Nicky Stevens for sponsoring the opening celebration with their fabulous Huntington Estate wines created the Mudgee region.
