Australian harpist Georgia Lowe's playing has been described as 'magical', and making her 'famously difficult instrument seem so elegant and easy' - ClassikON March 2021.
As a soloist, Georgia has performed Ravel's Introduction and Allegro with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra Fellowship, Leo Weiner's Romance for cello and harp Op.29 (Australian premiere) with cellist Vincent Lo and the North Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Benjamin Britten's Ceremony of Carols with the UK Temple Church Choir, as well as several other harp concerti including the Gliere Harp Concerto, Rodrigo's Concierto de Aranjuez, Mozart Flute and Harp Concerto and Debussy Danses Sacrée et Profane with Sydney orchestras.
Georgia is a member of the successful soprano and harp duo Lawergren & Lowe with Australian coloratura Susannah Lawergren. Georgia's arranging skills allow the duo to take on whatever takes their fancy, from opera and art song to new works by Elena Kats-Chernin and Ross Edwards. 2022 appearances include the Glebe Music Festival, Newcastle Art Gallery, and the Art Gallery Society of NSW' Resonate series, where Lawergren & Lowe will be joined by tenor Andrew Goodwin.
Georgia is a founding member of the Australian Harp Quartet (AHQ), Australia's only quartet of pedal harpists. Georgia has performs as Guest Principal Harpist with the Sydney Symphony, Canberra Symphony and the Opera Australia orchestras.
One of the few venues in Sydney that continued to support musicians during COVID-19 St James' lunchtime concerts are 30 minutes in length, commencing at 1:15pm, and are livestreamed, so patrons have the choice of attending in person or watching online.
A unique bonus is that online ticketholders can watch a recording of the concert as many times as they wish until the Tuesday following the concert.
Tickets are $10 and all proceeds go to the musicians and the cost of livestreaming.
Our musicians have been hit hard by pandemic, and St James' is thrilled to have the opportunity to support the professionals who give us such enjoyment and solace through their craft.
