Just as Anzac Day and Yom Hazikaron fall near each other in the calendar, the events they commemorate overlap in little-known, albeit remarkable, intersections.
Dr. Ron Weiser AM will discuss some of those events and highlight the significance of one of the most important but little-known Australian Jewish Anzacs, who was in the forerunner of the IDF, and his commander, a strong Christian Zionist.
Dr. Ron Weiser is a well-known voice within the Sydney Jewish Community having been a life member of the Zionist Federation of Australia Executive, Hon. Life President of the Zionist Council of NSW and a founding director of the Online Hate Prevention Institute. In 2021, he received the WIZO NSW Rose Fekete Community Hero Award. Ron successfully led the efforts to resolve the matters arising from the Maccabia Bridge tragedy in 1997, when four Australians died and over 70 Australians and Austrians were injured.
