Living in the remote WA town of Kiwirrkurra, Mantua paints about the sacred site of Marrapinti, near Wilkinkarra (Lake Mackay). Sinuous lines of tiny dots shimmer across the paintings, visually tricking our eyes and minds, with subtle shifts in tone and pattern.
Mantua was recently featured in the National Indigenous Art Triennial at the National Gallery of Australia (currently on tour), and her work was acquired by them to celebrate Papunya Tula Artists 50th Anniversary. She is also currently a finalist in the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes at the AGNSW.
This is an historic opportunity to be completely immersed in a gallery of large paintings by this prominent Australian Indigenous artist.
