Enjoy a free music concert at Mt Coot-tha Songwriters Festival set in the cool, lush Brisbane Botanic Gardens at the base of Mt Coot-tha. The Brisbane songwriting institution was founded in 2005 as 8 Ball Aitken’s TAFE assignment. “I am amazed and so grateful of the support Mt Coot-tha Songwriters Festival has received for the past two decades. We have stayed true to our mission of promoting Brisbane blues and roots music talent, and we’re blessed to still be making music together.” The festival stage features six hours of non-stop original entertainment from fine Queensland blues, roots, folk, alt. country, and acoustic songwriters. The 2025 line-up features the soulful duo 8 Ball Aitken &Taya Chani, bluesman Nathan Beretta, global touring folk songstress Lucy Gallant, spell binding singer-songwriter Clare Cowley, award winning Rae Leigh, and the enigmatic vocal presence of Phil Barlow. The musicians also get together for the all-star performer set to finish off the show. Bring a picnic or enjoy the food truck offerings. Wear a hat, slip, slop, and slap, and chill with the big Brisbane extended music family for a great day of original music in a natural setting. 11-11.50am - Rae Leigh 11.55am-12.45pm - Phil Barlow 12.50-1.40pm - Clare Cowley 1.45-2.35pm - Lucy Gallant 2.40-3.30pm - 8 Ball Aitken &Taya Chani 3.35-4.30pm - Nathan Berretta 4.30pm-finish - Performer Jam Set This event is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council.
