Pauline Clague, Founder and Artistic Director of Winda Film Festival, has curated the selection to speak to this year's theme of NAIDOC 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud' and show the varying ways we stand up loud and proud at different stages of our lives.
The films will be playing at Tumbalong Stage on the 6th and 13th of July. Movies are approximately 5 minutes in length and will play in the below order:
- NANA - Australia / 5 mins / 2007 Writer/Director: Warwick Thornton. Nana's granddaughter thinks Nana's pretty special. She loves her Nana because she helps the old people, she's a good painter and other people love her too. Nana's got everyone under control.
- SHARPEYE - Australia/ 5 mins / 2007 Writer/Director: Aaron Fa'aoso. When 11 year old Whalen spies a Special Forces dinghy off the jetty, the whole town gets in on the action to outdo the professionals at their own game. Set in the Torres Strait Island communities of Bamaga and Seisia, Sharpeye tells the story of the Charlie Company.
- BACK SEAT - Australia / 5 mins / 2007 Writer/Director: Pauline Whyman. One day unfolds through the eyes of 12-year-old Janine when she goes with her foster parents to meet her biological family for the first time.
- HUSH - Australia / 5 mins / 2007 Writer/Director: Dena Curtis. Ethel and her friend Mary resort to an unlikely occupation at night to top up their pensions. Ethel's daughter is horrified when she discovers they are not really 'playing cards'.
