In this workshop, entomologist and professional educator Francisco Bueno will provide an overview on how to become a stingless beekeeper.
This workshop is a more condensed version of the one-day workshop. It includes a slide presentation and a practical session.
You'll learn about bee nesting and foraging biology, the diversity of wild bees and modern stingless beekeeping in Australia, and using stingless bees for pollinating gardens and farms.
In the practical sessions, we'll open hives and observe the amazing structures inside. We'll divide a hive into two halves, showing the process of colony propagation.
BYO light refreshments and water bottle and/or reusable mug. Kitchen available for access to hot and cold water.
About the facilitator:
Francisco Bueno is an entomologist, and has just recently completed his PhD at the University of Sydney. His research focused on native bees' biology, management and pollination. He is also a stingless bee keeper and promoter of native bees. He has worked closely with Dr Tim Heard who has been working with native bees since 1985. Francisco is passionate about promoting native stingless bees and enjoys delivering pollination workshops.
