A large scale participatory artwork that invites the public to contribute to a neon ghost fungus bloom growing in the City Botanic Gardens.
Omphalotus nidiformis is a bioluminescent species that can be found on tree trunks and fallen wood in forests across the eastern coast of Queensland. Growing low to the ground, this delicate and magical white 'ghost fungus' becomes luminous in the dark.
Participants can drop in any time to learn a few fibre arts techniques and add their own contribution to the glowing garden.
Location: See the Neon Night Garden at City Botanic Gardens, enter via George Street gate.
