We invite our guests to reconnect with community, food, and the land that sustains us.
The Spring Harvest Long Table Lunch is a fundraiser event for Northey Street City Farm. Proceeds from the event will support our ongoing programs in permaculture education and environmental and social sustainability. For over 30 years, we’ve been a hub for sustainability, education, and community connection. By attending, you are directly helping us continue this work.
Event Details:
The Long Table Lunch will unfold as a generous three-course shared feast — a collaboration between Three Little Birds and Bando Smoke BBQ, led by Michelin-trained chefs Chris Jordan and Lee Sibanda. Expect coal-fired meats and vegetables, bright Caribbean jerk spices, local produce from our incredible farmer's market community and native ingredients grown right on city farm soil.
Begin the afternoon with a guided wander through Northey Street City Farm’s gardens and food forests. Your tour ends at the Garden Bar, where a roaming entree will be served alongside welcome drinks. At the heart of the day is the long lunch itself - guests will be seated at long tables on our Village Green for a feast centered around native flavours, fire, and shared stories. The menu is a special collaboration between Michelin-trained chefs Lee Sibanda and Chris Jordan. Chef Chris will share stories of First Nations connection to native ingredients and the landscapes that hold them.
Menu:
Canapés
Salt baked yams with native spiced mayo and dukkah
Smoked roe taramasalata with fermented ooray
Kangaroo & Anise Myrtle salumi, farm pickles, crostini
Main
Native jerk-spiced BBQ (Vegan option: Spicy smoked Jamaican yam curry with chickpeas)
Sides: Myrtle rice, Spring salad with Warrigal greens & Wattleseed vinaigrette
Dessert
Textures of chocolate, coconut and spiced rum pineapple
Celebration of Community
As the afternoon unfolds, you’ll hear from inspiring voices including Dominique Chen of Yuruwan, sharing how grassroots, urban-based First Nations food and medicine growing is being nurtured and protected. You’ll also learn about the work of the Youth Retreat Centre, whose programs reconnect young people in the Youth Justice System with culture, purpose, and community through food and collaboration.
Together, we’ll lift our glasses to community — to the abundance that emerges when we nurture connection, honour Country, and care for the land that sustains us.
We hope you can join us for a memorable afternoon of celebration, connection and community. Thank you for your support!
*Ticket includes a welcome drink on arrival (botanical spritz, wine or beer) and a three-course meal. Additional beverages (wine, beer, native mocktails and other non-alc options) will be available to purchase from the bar. Please provide details of any dietary requirements in the notes section for each guest at time of booking.
