Memorial Day weekend, in late May, marks the official start of beach season in the City. Head to Brighton Beach and Coney Island (Brooklyn) to people-watch, Rockaway Beach (Queens) to surf and Orchard Beach (the Bronx) to observe Pelham Bay Park's range of wildlife. Lifeguards are on duty daily (10am-6pm) from Memorial Day weekend through the Sunday after Labor Day weekend, in early September.
