This taster workshop will introduce you to a number of bead & sequin embroidery techniques, which will add texture and sparkle to your fashion and textile items.

Your teacher, Mary Brown, will provide you with a design on calico for you to work as an applique to go on a garment or perhaps a handbag. Mary will show you examples of her own work and images of work by others. Then she will demonstrate the bead and sequin embroidery techniques in the sample that she has brought to the class. 

This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners in bead and sequin embroidery.

A kit including, beads, sequins, sewing thread, velvet mat, beading needles and calico will be provided and is included in the cost of the workshop. Students will need to bring a small embroidery hoop (available at any textile or craft shop) that has a diameter between 15cm-20cm, a small pair of scissors, pencil, and a small clamp or weight for the frame when you need to be hands-free.
