From 8th -14th July, 2021 the Shop Gallery presents new works by Jane Noel, Julie Cunningham, Joel Cunningham and Joe Kalanda.
These include direct to canvas and paper painting, sculpture, paintings as embroidery (or visa versa), found object assemblages, painted works cut up and re-assembled. Strange visual hybrids. Abstraction and representation in dynamic tension.
The works were produced during the liminal time of 20/21 when it was as if the whole world was thrown into a workshop on living with uncertainty, a workshop no one signed up for.
While science seeks certainty, avoids fuzzy edges, artists often seek the spaces between certainties. The four J's explore between spaces and lean into what cannot be pinned down, stretching the ability to bear uncertainty, their own and the viewer's, if they linger a while. Each work can be a point of departure for imagination to be triggered, for memories, a conversation or feelingstate to arise.
Opening Hours:
July 8th - 14th 2021
11 am - 6 pm daily
Opening Night: Thursday 8th July, 6 pm - 9:30 pm 2021
