We are delighted to launch RACS Book Club - a bi-annual event featuring stories from around the world to highlight the experience of refugees, their communities and people seeking asylum.
Join our inaugural session to discuss The Kabul Peace House, by Mark Isaacs. All proceeds from ticket sales support the work of the Refugee Advice & Casework Service.
Host Jan Fran will lead a panel discussion and Q&A with special guests:
Mark Isaacs, acclaimed author, refugee advocate and activist
Maryam Zahid, Founder and Director of Afghan Women On The Move
Arif Hussein, RACS Senior Solicitor
The discussion will be recorded and made available to ticket holders the week following the event.
About The Kabul Peace House:
In the quiet, suburban streets of Kabul, a multi-ethnic community of male and female Afghan students are using philosophies of nonviolence to work for peace in Afghanistan. The Kabul Peace House reveals the personal stories of the members and what led them to defy the risks and stand up to demand the seemingly impossible dream of peace. It is a story of hope.
Get a copy of the book : https://markjisaacs.com/product/the-kabul-peace-house/
$10 from each book purchase will be donated to RACS.
Accessibility: This event will be live captioned.
