CONVERSATION I
Considerations of a Plastic-Free Art World
Saturday 25 June 2022, 2 - 3 pm
Artists, educators and change-makers, Rox de Luca and Kim Williams, speak on their recent collaborations: Plastic-free Kandos, Plastic-free Biennale and other plastic liberation events.
CONVERSATION II
Climate Change, Exhibition Making and Archipelagic Thinking
Saturday 16 July, 2 - 3 pm
The Cross Art Projects
Jasmin Stephens, Curator of Composing Archipelagos (Contemporary Art Tasmania, Hobart, 2021)
RISE 2 adopts the format of a long essay to frame artists' stories about rising sea levels and the raw kinetic power of water: ferocious, beautiful, hell-bent. Today's seas are dark, as rising water converges with global frames of ecocide, genocide, land rights, corruption and fossil-fuel mining: the oppressive outcomes of colonialism-including present-day corporate colonialism. The artists depict our unstable geopolitical region as their works eddy from art as awareness-raising poetics to tongue-in-cheek diplomacy to forensic analysis.
We invite you to join in these considerations at this powerful exhibition.
