From the front row of Adelaide's pubs, clubs and stadiums Eric Algra photographed some of the greatest international, Australian, and local bands. His gritty black and white photographs caught the live energy and the personalities of bands like The Clash, Madness, UK Squeeze, Simple Minds, Stray Cats, Talking Heads, Psychedelic Furs, The Stranglers, No Fixed Address, INXS, Cold Chisel, The Angels, Divinyls and Midnight Oil. Algra was the main photographer for Adelaide's first music magazine Roadrunner which started in Norwood in 1978.

Rock 'n' Roll City exhibition features over 50 iconic images of many music greats, Roadrunner magazines with original merch and ephemera. Visitors will get an instant 'concert high' seeing these familiar rock n roll faces as they exploded onto Adelaide's post-punk and pub rock scene between 1978 and 1983. See early images of The Angels at Adelaide Uni, INXS at the Shandon Hotel, Midnight Oil at Underdale Campus and The Divinyls at Tivoli and at the same time hear their music with a curated Spotify Rock 'n' Roll City playlist.

Our sincere thanks to Eric Algra, Roadrunner photographer and Donald Robertson, Roadrunner editor, for making this very exciting exhibition possible. Many thanks also to guest photographers Scott Hicks, John Altree-Williams, Victoria Wilkinson and Jodi Hoffmann.
