Join us for this fascinating online workshop about Rosh Hashana, a Jewish New Year festival.
What do apples, bees and a ram's horn have in common? They are all used as symbols in the Jewish New Year festival of Rosh Hashana, which will be celebrated in the first week of September!
The Sydney Jewish Museum invites you to a complimentary live and interactive Rosh Hashana workshop, facilitated by a Museum Educator. This 45-minute program will introduce students to the traditions and symbolism associated with this important celebration.
During the workshop, students will:
Learn what foods are traditionally eaten and why
Hear a 'Shofar' (ram's horn) being blown and what it represents
Hear three community rabbis from different streams of Judaism talk about why the festival is important to Jewish people
Engage in a craft activity
Take home a recipe for Honey Cake customarily made for Rosh Hashana
